Bayview Yacht Club to Host Match Races

The Detroit News Bayview Yacht Club will host the Inaugural International Match Race for the Detroit Cup. Sailors from six countries are expected to compete in the May 8-11 event, which is being sponsored by Toyota. They will sail on Bayview's fleet of Ultimate 20 boats. Spectators from the general public will be invited to watch the races from the private club. More information will be available on the club's Web site at byc.com. Advertisement Match racing is used in the America's Cup, where just two boats race at a time. The format is round-robin, with points earned for each win to determine the overall champion.
