Team Enigma Takes Home the Gold
by John Andrews

Well gang, last weekend was the much hyped Go For the Gold regatta on Scotts Flat Lake 15 mins. North of Nevada City CA.

Unfortunately, due to a freak harmonic convergence of family and personal issues, our solid fleet of 6 boats dwindled to 2 boats at the last minute. That being said, we made the best of the situation in the PHRF Open Keel division and had a great time at a great regatta (hint: let's not miss this one next year)

The air temp was in the 80s the water temp was in the low 70s and winds were a pleasant and consistent 7-9kts. The 5 race series was run extremely well by the Gold Country YC race managers with short but fun courses. There were 3 races Saturday and 2 on Sunday with a BBQ on Saturday night.

John Buchanan and Dave Kitchen of Enigma #97 took first place in the Open Keel PHRF division sailing against a fleet of Capri 22s and one other U20 (Pat and Bill Andrew's #94 "Salsa"). Pat and Bill came out of sailing retirement to race their recently purchased boat "Salsa". "Salsa" took 3rd place behind a well sailed Capri 22. The U20s were sailing with a So. Cal. PHRF rating of 150 and the Capri 22s were sailing at 210.

Overall the weekend was outstanding and the venue was a fantastic warm up for the High Sierra coming up on July 11th and 12th.
