Title: Immediate Public Relations Action Recommended
Post by: Michael Eisenberg on March 26, 2010, 05:26:17 PM
There is presently a discussion on Sailing Anarchy with regards to the carbon mast. There are about a dozen posts.

This is the first post: "How's the new rig working out ?"

This is a later post from Mark Allen: "Raced against one of the new carbon masts at San diego NOOD last weekend and I agree the mast looks beautiful. We had perfect conditions with wind up to 15 knots and a short chop. The carbon mast looked bombproof and was definately not moving around in the boat like the tin rig. Boat was fast all weekend taking third for the new owner. Fun had by all. I could get used to hanging out at the Coronado Yacht club and sailing on the South Bay!"

This is the most important post by one of the Editors: "If someone will send me a decent pic and a short writeup of the rig I'll get it on the front page."

I believe this is an invitation for  PR opportunity that should be taken advantage of.

I believe it should be along the lines of: " The Ultimate 20 Class is moving into the new decade with an expanded view of growing this exciting class.  The class organization is now in charge of the molds, and has a builder on line and ready to deliver new boats. Some have already been built. The Class organization commisioned an engineering study to develop a new carbon mast.  After one prototype mast was built and delivered by C-Tech, active testing was done to verify its suitability with the boat.  Fifteen additional masts were ordered and are now in the field being tested.  A vote by the class membership is expected within the month to make these mast legal for class competition.  Over 30 U-20's are expected to compete at the Nlorth American Championships at Dillon Lake in August.

I believe someone with the proper authority should reword this post for accuracy.  They or I can then submit it for inclusion on the front page of SA

I like the idea and would include the number of boats we had racing on both coasts like what is already written on the class website.

Michael, how did you know it was me  ;D

Great opportunity to build momentum for the class

The only good photos I have are the 3 that I attached to my first post of this chain.  They are from the da-woody.com web site.  Will they do?

All,

I have submitted a slightly modified version of what Michael wrote with a cropped picture from Da-Woody.  You can see the full article on the U20 Website.  This will be posted tonight on Sailing Anarchy's Front Page!

The SA spot was great.  Where are the boats being built?  I hadn't heard that we were back in production so nine boats already is sweet!

Totally stoked!!!
