Title: Test Sail - Southern California
Post by: Gregg Henning on December 02, 2011, 09:48:10 PM
Anyone able to contact this individual and take them out?

Hello,

I currently own a Capri 22 which I race weekly in Dana Point, Ca. I would like to take a test sail in an Ultimate 20 in Southern California. I am retired and am available pretty much any day except Thursday (race day). I will be away in January. Thank you.

Glenn, Let me know if a test sail falls through on your end.  Next sail for Toon Town is Jan 7 Malibu race.  I could take him out Jan 8.  Are you racing Malibu & return?

mike,
i haven't called him yet. busy doing family stuff this weekend. i'll get in touch with him this week and weather permitting go out next weekend.
haven't thought about malibu race yet as it's a whopping (1) month away. we usually race the viper in that race, but the last few years we've been towed in due to lack of breeze. but between ray , nigel, and myself the u20 will be out there.
the last race we did, we didn't know our rating so ray put in the same as yours (135)? what is the class and phrf rating between the boats? when we get our phrf rating for 2012 does it matter if we're stock or optimized for phrf, is is it the same all around?

The correct SoCal PHRF One Design rating is 138 bouy, 138 Random Leg, 138 Off Wind Race.  I have an optimized PHRF rating which carries 135 Bouy, 132 Random Leg, 132 Off Wind leg.  You should have carried a 138 rating, not 135. The race last month was 4 miles long. I beat you on elapsed time by 12 seconds. That means on handicap we were an exact tie.  But the tie breaker went to the one who was present to collect the trophy....

Gregg - I called Robert and offered a test sail on #29.  He said he will get back with me after he returns to town late January.

Cheers,
Steve
