Post by: Mark Allen on August 28, 2013, 01:28:35 PM
Please submit proposals for the 2014 NA's. The form for submittal is attatched or can be found on the class website under Organization/North American's.

The midwest and east coast would be current in the rotation.

Thank you,

What are thoughts on Bayfield , WI? It would be a five day event during the week of the 4th of July?

Racine Yacht Club, Racine, WI has a proposal in for August 7-10, 2014.

If there is any way to move the event up one week, it would sure help me.  Otherwise I have a work commitment at Laguna Seca Raceway from Aug 8 through Aug 17

if you do move it please please please don't move it to the 22nd weekend. PS I am all for Racine, I think that the will do a fantastic job as we have sailed S2 7.9's many times.

It is a great venue and a neat town to hang out in.

I've raced at Bayfield Race week twice.  Its beautiful venue and great place to race.

And no snow in July.

What about Kingston, Ontario?  Great venue, best breeze on the Great Lakes, and the CORK regatta is very well run.  The CORK one-design regatta is set for Aug. 22-24 next year.

Of course it's a bit farther away for some than WI, but, selfishly, I would love to see some U20 hype around the eastern/Canadian Great Lakes, to increase the chances that the two boats for sale in the area will stay in the region, and fall into the hands of some active racers.

(This is all assuming that the new equipment I ordered from Boeing shows up on time, of course).

We would welcome another bid for the NA's. You would have to go to the class website and fill out the North American championship proposal and submit it for consideration. We are still taking bids and the board will vote on all the proposals shortly.

Thanks,

Mark Allen

Thanks Mark.

I've been in touch with CORK - looks like it's not going to work for 2014. I won't be submitting a proposal.

We'll look forward to a trip somewhere new, like Racine or Bayfield, or wherever else may be chosen.

Kuy, you should consider 2015 for the NA's there as that could be considered east!
