Possible locations discussed:
Park City Sailing Association Fall Regatta (Utah) End of September (probably the 19th and 20th)
Howard Prairie (Oregon) Date?
Norther California Venue ?
Others?
Let's get a location lined up and lock in the date!

Park City is a great regatta venue and only 8 hours drive for the CO boats. :)

There was discussion about big daddy on the yahoo group. I do not think that is a good PCC unless RYC is willing to add an additional day of buoy racing friday.
San Diego NOOD or Seattle NOOD would be fine. I suggest Howard Prairie in 2016- I cannot guarantee we will have water in 2015.
Another option is Konocti Cup at Clear Lake. I think Jim Carlsen would be willing to run buoy races on thursday and friday followed by distance race Saturday.

Westcoasters:
Jim Carlsen (previous U20 owner btw) and I exchanged messages and KBSC would be willing to work something out.
Good things about this venue are several. The venue is in a central location on the west coast (15 hrs from Sandpoint, 7hrs from LA, 2 hrs for the Bay area boats, 11hrs from Salt Lake City. Conditions in the spring tend to be ideal U20 conditions with consistent winds in the 8-18kt range. A large campground is just down the road from the marina and it is very nice. I would expect the race committee work to be extremely professional and appropriate for a championship caliber regatta.
Downsides are a couple. The venue does not have a ton of options for hotels/motels. It is better for camping. There are some Air B-n-B options in the area that could be cool as well. The spring timing puts our west coast championship event early in the season which may or may not be an issue.
Probably need to have a vote on the forum soon once all the opportunities and trade-offs have been discussed.

Where is KBSC? ???

Konocti Bay Sailing Club. Clear Lake California. They have a distance race (26mi) on the last Saturday of April - Konocti Cup. We would buoy race Thursday and Friday and then do their distance Saturday. We could have a scoring that weights the distance race a little more in the regatta total which would be cool in my opinion- but we would need agreement from the skippers on that.

Clear lake sounds nice too. I would prefer something at the end of the year, but Iam not going to be picky.
Agree with Jay that we need to put the official options up for a vote and get the dates locked in.
Mike J, is there an official PCC option in the bay area you want to put on the table?

We (the Utah U20 Fleet) had our annual planning meeting this evening.
The fleet is proposing we PCC's be in Park City again. Official dates have not been posted, but it's almost certainly going to be September 19-20. If there is interest, we could work on making it a 3 day regatta and extend to Friday. At a minimum we would have 4 local boats and possibly 6 attending.
At this point we are making this a formal offer. Still willing to consider other options though! 8)
Thanks

North Americans at Bayview is the same weekend as the Park City Fall Regatta. We'll need to line up a new date and venue for PCC's.
Ideas anyone?
Maybe High Sierra (Huntington) if it rains a lot more?

All west coast U20s- please answer the new poll on the forum for PCC venue and date options. After considerable discussion with class leadership these two options are the leading candidates. The poll allows you to select both options if either date/venue works for you. The venue and date with the most interest is the one that will likely be selected. If one date is good for your team and the other is possible not definite then answer "commit" for the date you know works and "may" for the date that is possible but not for sure. If a day becomes definite you can change your vote.
This poll will run for 21 days starting February 18th and close on March 11th. Class leadership will make a final selection and notify the class shortly after the poll closes.
Please Vote!
