Count me in as the first to commit with U20 #25 fore. I'll make every attempt to sail but must admit watching the fleet last year in Kansas was a lot of fun.

I will be there!

Quick update on the North Americans. We will soon be able to announce a title sponsor that is going to help make this a 1st class regatta. We have a wonderful facility, race management team, and 12-15 boats committed. We are looking to get 20+ boats on the line. If you are at all on the fence you should start making plans. The few boats that were available for loan have been spoken for so plan to tow your boat out.
Please reach out if you need help with anything.

Hey Tim
Can we use Yachtscoring instead of regatta network for this event? It is so much easier to use and worth the extra few $$ for each boat. Also makes finding events easier online for people to find that are not there.
just asking.
See you there!

I know Tac wanted the other regatta management site, but LNYC uses Regatta Network...

I’m in. I’ll be bringing Running With Scissors (Steve Rose’s boat) down from Duluth. Rumor has it “You Sassy B!” will also be making the trip up from Columbia.
Two crew that sailed with Steve last bayfield race week really want to come participate, but Sassy and Scissors are already fully crewed. Are there any boats in the area (or anywhere between Minnesota and North Carolina) that are available for charter? We can pick up along the way if necessary.
Also, obligatory first post comment: Hi all, my name is Mike. I borrowed Scissors from Steve Rose for two years before he passed away. He made a huge impression on me, and the U20 has an incredibly special place in my heart. I can never repay Steve, but I’m doing my best to honor his memory by sailing as much as possible, encouraging others as much as possible, and perfecting my goombay smash recipe. I’m really looking forward to coming down to race with the community down south.

Wanted to let folks know that we have two other opportunities to sail on Lake Norman. One is in a couple weeks, we have our annual Labor Day regatta. This will give you a chance to see the conditions on the lake prior to NAs. You can register from the front page of the Lake Norman Yacht Club website. You can also leave your boat there until NAs.
The second opportunity is Nov 10-11. This is the annual Carolina Keelboat One-Design regatta.
Looking forward to seeing everyone.

BJ and Emily went over and checked it out. All seems fine. Nothing to report so far.
-
great news!
-
Glad to hear y’all made it through.
It appears one of the crew is going to have to drop out. Does anyone know someone who might be interested in crewing?
Fair warning we will closer to the back of the pack than the front
Cheers,
Bryan Colby

One more day to register without a late fee. If you are even remotely thinking about it you should get off the fence and come. Lake Norman is a great place to sail in late September. We can help with lodging, food, beer, and boat storage. We might even have a boat to charter (charter is a strong word; borrow might be better).
You are welcome to leave your boat and come back to sail in the Carolina Keel-boat One Design regatta held at Lake Norman Yacht Club on Nov. 10-11.

First timer here:
Is the club accessible at all hours or do we need a member present to get on the property? The Duluth contingent is currently looking at a fairly late arrival tonight. Probably midnight(ish), or a little earlier.
Really looking forward to this regatta!

2018 North American Regatta in the books! Congratulations to Tim Porter (1st), Mark Aspland (2nd) BJ Jones (3rd) and their respective crews.
-
I would like to congratulate Tim and crew for a great event!
Also as usual the great folks at LNYC for their hospitality and friendships that I have enjoyed there over the last few years, (since 1991). Now we just need them all to move to a bigger piece of water with less shifts and more breeze :)
Cheers
