I think I am using the original motor mount. The removable one that can be interchanged with trailing mast support. When in use my motor rubs the lip on the bottom of the hull causing damage.
Is there a recommended replacement

What kind of outboard do you have? Some outboards have an adjustment for the angle of attack.

Tohatsu 3.5. Made a mistake buying the short shaft. If I adjust the angle not enough prop in the water

By adding some rubber, plastic or wood to the backside of the removable motor mount, this will correspondingly move the motor farther away from the hull. My motor mount has a block of wood on the front side, with a thin layer of rubber on the back side. If you add a half inch of rubber to the backside, it should move the motor a half inch away from the hull. Also, consider that your motor may be missing a stop block/tilt adjustment...as the prop thrusts the boat forward, it may be pushing the shaft forward; having a stop block/tilt adjustment on the motor will prevent the shaft from moving forward beyond a certain point.

OR, tilt the engine up one notch and then motoring will require two crew aft to keep the prop in the water.

Thanks Don, the stop is on the motor and the is a wood block may try putting a thicker block on the mount

I agree with Don's comment about tilting up the motor one notch. If your motor mount is like mine, the wood block is on the front side, and increasing the thickness will not resolve the issue. Increasing the thickness on the backside (mine has a rubber pad) will help address the problem. Have fun!
