Thanks Travis for posting! That entire site is still under construction but the U20 page should be good. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Sandpoint is a great venue to come visit and sail. There are good places to stay and great spots to throw out a tent if you prefer. We have nice winds in late August and they build into September. The Thistle class is coming for their NA's in July - they are planning on 70 boats. So the race committee should be in top form for our regatta. Here is a link to their site https://thistlenationals2019.com/
Hope to see you all there!

I am hoping to post the NOR in the near future (how's that for a commitment 😘!) We will be hosting the J24 Districts that same weekend - should be a fun weekend 👍 that you're sure to remember!

Hi Gang!
Here is the NOR for the NA's this year in Sandpoint Idaho. Took a bit of coordination to get the event set up, but it's ready to go. This promises to be another fun event in a pretty beautiful location. I can help out with logistics, housing, ect - just let me know what your specifics needs are. I'll get the registration up shortly!
Thanks
Chris

Wish I could make; the calendar is just too packed this year. Looks like a wonderful venue.

What can we do to get more then 5 boats? I mean we are just a little over a month away?
-
We have a few folks lagging on their registration. I'll fire out some reminders!

Sorry for the late registration. I’m in. See you all next week.

Looking forward to it Bob!
This is my official post to the fleet that we may be a tad over weight again. ;D
Please advise if anyone has a concern about this.
Thanks

Based on the wind forecast, I have no objections. :P

Good luck to all.

Lake Pend Oreille dished up some challenging conditions and beautiful scenery for those who gathered in Sandpoint Idaho for the 2019 U20 North American Championship.
Thursday evenings practice race was followed by a brisket dinner at Chris' home and plenty of Uinta beer. The food was great and it was a super way to re-connect with friends and welcome new members to the fleet.
Light and shifty wind on the opening day prevented the RC from starting any races on Day 1. After a day of floating in he sun, the fleet headed over to the pig roast with live music at the Rear Commodores home. Some teams wanted even more fun and went up town to the Drag Show!
Day 2 started with an early breeze and Bob Abelin of Canyon Ferry Yacht Club was untouchable, taking first place by a big margin. Graham Shivers of Vancouver BC posted a second and Travis Gregory from Salt Lake, a third. More light and shifty conditions settled in preventing further racing on Day 2. So it was back to the tent for cold beer, dinner and then uptown again to continue the party and for more foolishness :-X
On a unanimous vote, racing hours were extended for the third and final day. In 6-8 knots of breeze, lead changes were constant - 6 boats were able to post a first or a second place finish. In the end Chris Chambers came out on top (14), with Graham Shivers from the West Vancouver Yacht Club in second (15) and Mark Allen from the Great Salt Lake Yacht Club in third (16).
Thanks to everyone who came to town to help make this a great and memorable regatta!!

Thanks for hosting a great regatta Chris! We had a fantastic time on and off the water. That racing was amazing close. It was great to see the first four places separated by just two points!
