Gang - I have a model builder who is doing a half hull for my brothers boat and I asked him the price for a U20 half hull, mounted on a plaque/board. He is quoting $250 a piece for a 1/20 scale which is about 12 inches long. I am getting one in hopes of negotiating with my bride for one little tiny space inside our house.

Chris, I remember seeing one of these half molds years ago. I think they were used to make the NA trophies. If someone has one I could borrow, I know how and have the materials to make a proper silicone mold. Making the mold would probably cost me less than 100 bucks. It would not in any way damage the original. Once I have the mold I could make dozens of copies in white plastic.

Lighten Up,
If you end up being able to produce them for relatively low cost, please let us/me know. I have want to be able to make a U20 version of the attached piece of art that hangs in the IWC watch shop in Manhattan, but lack the skills (and time to compensate for lack of skills) to build a reasonably accurate model of the hull.

Bring you mold kit up to the NA's and we can make a run at it!

Did anything happen on this? I would be interested in purchasing a half hull model if one is available.

I'd be interested too.

Sorry guys for the delay. I will get a new quote from the model maker and let you all know costs/timing/ect.

I’d be interested as well Chris...thanks!

I am still interested also. Ideally I would like just the plastic hull and I would do the spars, mounting etc. If there is interest I could to the same for others as well.
