Title: Sticking Spiniker Haylard

My spinnaker halyard is constantly sticking (50% of the time) during the hoist and occasionally on the douse. Sticking means it will not move an inch up or down no matter how hard you pull. The only way to unlock it is to uncleat cunningham, vang,and jib sheet. I have replaced all hardware associated with the  spinnaker halyard and if anything it has gotten worse. About to drop the mast and try and re run the main halyard thinking it is twisted with the spinnaker halyard. Another ideas? Has anyone experienced this?

Given that you have already replaced the spinnaker  exit block at the top and the cheek block at the bottom, I believe you are on the right path to drop the mast and re-string the spinnaker halyard.  With one or more wraps between the spinnaker and main halyards inside the mast and normal bend to the mast as the main and/or jib is tensioned, this is a likely cause of the spinnaker halyard not running freely.

Doesn't sound like the same thing but I have seen the spin halyard get behind the T-Balls and get locked in place.  In this case the only way to get it cleared is to take the mast down (at least part of the way).

Finally getting around to re-running the spinnaker halyard. After examining the situation I have noticed there is a "web" inside the mast near the spreaders. This web has clearance near the front of the mast (area B on the sketch) and near the track (area A on the sketch) . See the attached sketch. Currently both halyards are running through section A. I think it makes sense to run the spinnaker through section B and the Main Halyard through section A. Let me know if you agree or disagree.

I better check mine, I ran a new spinnaker halyard as well. Mine is a little tight but not sticking. I accidentally put my windex on backwards so I need to drop the mast again anyway. Perfect time to check it all out.

Do you have a tin rig or carbon?

I have a Aluminum Mast. I went ahead a re-ran it so each halyard went through a different section . I completely pulled the spinnaker out and then tighten the main halyard and re-ran using a fish tape and coat hanger. Turned out not to be too difficult. Fingers crossed.
