Title: Using the U20 organization as a club for race entry?
Post by: Graham Shivers on February 14, 2020, 05:04:44 PM
Hello,

I have just resigned from my yacht club because I live 350 kms away from it and have not been there for the last 5 years. I really should have done it earlier.

My question is when registering for a PHRF race can I use the U20 membership as my club now? Or do I have to belong to a club?

I have been part of my old club for over 30 years so I have not been in the position before. I know there are paper clubs for this purpose but I would rather not join another club if I don't have to.

Thanks for any advice...or even who I would ask.

Each region has different rules about whether you need to be a member of a club or not.  Membership in the class is not adequate though.  There are some clubs that are basically internet clubs that don't cost much, like spinsheet or something like that.

I would imagine it depends on the event.  PM me if you want a line on an inexpensive Yacht Club membership option or two.

Thanks for the responses.

Sort of what I thought and understandable too.

Thanks again,
