Attached is the 2009 Annual Class Meeting Minutes.  Please read through them and if you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them the best I can.

You will find updates on the possible new rule changes, Carbon Rig reports and Mold Purchase updates.

Thanks for the notes.
How much has been raised for purchings the molds if that becomes a possibility?

Am I correct that the design of the carbon fiber mast is such that its only benefit is that it is less likely to break?

Advantages of the carbon mast would be:
1) easier to step (that's a biggie)
2) Stronger
3) Same speed in flat water, faster in a seaway. Less pitching movement due to less weight aloft in big seas.

How soon can we make this decision? It seems to me the best time to buy is in a dowm market especially if we order 5 or more. Even if the class rule stays with aluminum I would be interested in having a carbon rig for non class events. Anybody else?

It was not clear from the minutes if the installation of a new carbon mast would also require new sails.  Not sure why that would be so, but the minutes were not clear on this issue.

There wouldn't be a class requirement for new sails. 

I'm no sail maker so I would differ to the experts on whether or not the sails would be cut different for the Carbon mast.  From the testers came this statement "the fore and aft bend characteristics of the carbon mast are the same as the aluminum mast"  That would tell me that my existing sails on carbon would preform just as they do now on my aluminum mast.

Mark,

Purchasing the molds is still a possibility, we are just waiting until some logistics are worked out.  At this time I am making sure the class is protected.  Trust me when I say that I would like to see this come to a close but we have Jeff's lawyer mixed up in the middle of this.

Some of the benefits of the Carbon rig is listed below.  Currenly the existing sails are working just fine on the Carbon rig.
