Really well done demonstration.  Thanks for taking the time to get a good camera angle. Excellent editing as well.  Would you post a photo or spec on the mast block/cleat you are running on MM?

Yes, I think the halyard should not be captive at the cleat.

I agree, just noticed it came with a fairlead but couldn't see in your video if it was removed.
