Paul Dimarco can make them, he is a previous owner and still active with our fleet on Lake Norman.

It's winter time and some days are just too cold to be outside working.  I have made many of the Shapes Of Speed suggested lines that will make your Ultimate 20 sailing faster and more comfortable.  Now's the time to stock up and get ready for next season and optimize your boat.
Spinnaker Halyard- 1/4" (6mm) Green Robline tapered dyneema and Polyester cover, w/ halyard stop ball $160
Tackline- 5/16" (8mm) Blue or Yellow New England Flightline tapered dyneema and XLF Polypropylene cover to not absorb water $90
Spinnaker Sheet- 5/16" (8mm) Yellow or Blue New England Flightline Non tapered "T config" $180  (suggested for small hands and medium/heavy air)
Spinnaker Sheet- 1/4" (6mm) Red and Green New England Flightline Tapered ends "Y config" $180  (suggested for light air sailing)
Pole Out Line- 7mm Black Robline Single Braid Dyneema blend $35 (soft and subtle to run very easily at the turning block on pole housing.  Comes with abrasion sleeve)
Jib Furler Line- 3/16" (5mm) Pink Robline Dinghy Control tapered dyneema core $35  (makes furling easier with no stretch and small diameter wraps on drum)

U20 Regattas - Where, When & Who's Going! / Re: Race Week PNW

Ryan

Let us know how the registration is going...I think if you are getting close to the one design start number, other West Coast boats may be enticed to join you.  For those interested in this great opportunity to sail the Pacific NW, here is the link to the event site.

I am going. Registration starts January 1. If 6 U20s register then the class will have its own start.  Bellingham is a cool little city, camping near by if you reserve early. A lot of restaurants in Bellingham and Fairhaven, I can think of 6 breweries and 2 cider houses in Bellingham/Fairhaven.

This is a light air venue in July. When we had our island cruiser in the harbor on an outer slip seemed to be always blowing 10 to 15kts of when pulling into the slip. Every summer regatta I have been to its 2 to 8kts; average July wind according to weather under ground for last year was 6kts.

Would love to race one-design. We are going to try to get to one of the other west coast events this year.

U20 Boat Maintenance & Care / Re: Dyform Rigging

Every shroud is different.  Very much depends on how the spreaders were fit and at what angle they are, along with obviously people having different turnbuckles.  Other need to know is the diameter of the threaded stud or turnbuckle style number.

Thanks Steve.  I'll get a measuring tape to existing stuff next drop.  It's a Forte carbon mast, so I would expect the lengths are standard, are they not?  Or is there variations from mast to mast?  TIA Phil

The annual Three Bridge Fiasco is scheduled for January 25th.   It involves sailing around three marks in San Francisco Bay (Red Rock, Yerba Buena Island, and the Blackaller mark near the Golden Gate Bridge) in any direction and order you choose.  With over 300 entries, it is also involves some tactical decisions throughout the course.  Last year 5 U20s entered in the DH division with two finishing the race in the top 30 boats.   Its a challenging, frustrating, and never to be missed race.  Once you do it, you keep coming back!

The registration is now open.

If you did it last year, you can use your 2024 PHRF certificate.   Otherwise, you must get a 2025 PHRF certificate from YRA.

It is important to do this before January 3rd to be sure you get it in time for the TBF registration deadline.

Looking forward to seeing more U20s on the water this year!

I can get compacted strand (dyform) rigging made.  Need specific lengths in order to work with your turnbuckles.  Unlike some who have gotten shrouds made without reading the rules, Dyform rigging is only allowed to be 4mm wire.

Recommendation for cockpit organizer?  Looking for maximum size in one bag with three pockets.  I saw a nice pair of Good Vibe brand, but cannot find a retailer.
