U20 Regattas - Where, When & Who's Going! / Re: LBRW

This sounds like a good replacement for NOODS but agree that a regatta earlier would be more attractive to boats that are winterized somewhere and what to get out.   Usually by June many are back at their "lakes".

Glenn,

Thanks for suggesting this. We really need a suitable replacement for the now defunct San Diego NOOD. With the Championship in July, June may be to close.  What would you suggest for 2025?  Anything going earlier (March, April, May)?

Thanks

Is there any interest in Long Beach race week(end) in June?  Racing would be inside the breakwater or we can petition out on the ocean. Beeeze is normally in the mid teens depending on how hot the desert gets.

RYC Midwinters was a ton of fun.  And if you haven't done a three bridge, it must go on your bucket list.  I'll be back for another.   8)

2024 Northern California Season Championship (Matt Boroughf Trophy) is off to a good start with five races so far--all of which were sailed on San Francisco Bay.  The Richmond Yacht Club hosted the U20 Fleet with one design mark racing during the Midwinters Series and the Big Daddy Regatta and the Single Handed Sailing Society held their annual Three Bridge Fiasco.  At all these events, the local fleet was joined by traveling boats from Monterey, Reno, Salt Lake City, and Bend Oregon.  With the season only a quarter of the way through, eight boats have met the 3 event criteria for being scored in the series and we expect more as the season progresses.  At present, Phil Kanegsberg and Denise Hammond on Udecide lead in the scoring using a High Point Averaged Scoring System but close behind are Marty Smihula, Michael Eisenberg, and Donna Womble.

Next up for the Fleet is the Don Wan Regatta at the Tiburon Yacht Club on April 6 and the Dolphin Cup at the Monterey Yacht Club April 13-14.  Of course, the big event will be the U20 Nationals on Huntington Lake to be held after the High Sierra Regatta on July 22-24.  We expect a lot of boats and more competitors in the Season Championship as the season progresses.

U20 General Discussion / Re: Kick up Rudders

Mike, I have a brand new CCI cassette style rudder for sale. The cassette itself is built for standard U20 dimensions so it should be plug and play. It cost $4,100 new (rudder, cassette, and tiller) and I'll sell it for $2,500 if you're interested.

Thanks John. These types of races fit more my background. One time I didn’t finish looking at your stern.

Congrats on winning your PHRF (and U20) class!  The three bridge is a long tough race.
