Carbon mast main halyard

Are people with a carbon mast using a 2:1 main halyard or a 1:1? I emailed C-Tech and they told me a 1:1 halyard using 8mm spectra line is okay, but that you should check the sheave pin at the mast head to make sure it wasn't wearing through the carbon. They suggested gluing a small carbon plate on either side of the mast head and using a longer sheave pin. I have a 2:1 on my boat and wouldn't mind getting rid of the excess line. Any thoughts? That is what I did. But, I added a second sheave at the top to get the line away from the mast.

Wow, it's been a while since I looked at the forum. The line I used was 3/16 dyneema, low stretch and is not too hard on the hands. You could pick up 3 U20s with it. It's a bit slippery though, so you have to cleat it well.

Thanks, Steve. I think I'll use 6mm Yale Chrystalyne, it's Vectran and should work well.
