U20's Rule at Outback Cup
« on: September 12, 2011, 02:48:40 PM »
8 U20's joined 25 other Keelboats at the 12th Outback Cup regatta at Columbia Sailing Club on Lake Murray, SC.  And the U20s ruled the weekend, capturing the top 4 overall spots (we were scored both as a Class and as part of the Spinnaker PHRF fleet) and taking home the celebrated Outback Cup.  Congratulations to BJ Jones, Bill Wiggins, Chris Gorni & Don Corey for the top 4 finishes! Lots of interest in the boat and 2 of the 8 competitors were "guest" skippers. Full results & pictures are at www.columbiasailingclub.org/pages/Outback/2011.

Yes they did, just sorry that Emily had to start this thread, but Emily and BJ Jones did a terrific job schooling the eight boat U20 fleet on light air sailing with a dominating victory.  Likewise, Steve Rose did a great job serving up the Goombays to the rest of the PHRF fleet the night before.  Congrats also go out to Bill, Angie & Jordan Wiggins for their well sailed second as well as Chris & Bonnie Gornie for their come from behind third beating the 640 lb crew aboard scram (this is always a light air afair, what was I thinking?)  They all sailed very well and really made a good showing for the U20 in a PHRF fleet being the first four overall finishers!  This is the third win of the 'Outback Cup' for a U20 in the past five years, let's do it again next year !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Much thanks to Steve Rose & his fleet, Columbia Sailing Club, LMYRA and all the sponsors for this terrific event.

and damn it, quit calling me a youngster!
