Mug Race, Jacksonville, FL April 23
« on: January 05, 2012, 07:00:37 PM »
I did this race a couple years ago and, while it was a long day, it was a very fun day.

It starts in the morning in Palatka, FL and race 38 miles to Jacksonville. Its typically a downwind drag race the whole way to the finish.

Anyone interested? Sassy and Scissors are planning to attend.

Since 1954, sailors have come to meet the challenge of the MUG RACE. Over 58 years, the direction
of the course has changed, the dates have changed, bridges have appeared and expanded, the boats
have gone from wood to fiber glass to carbon fiber. But the length of the race has stayed the same, 38.5
nautical miles, every one of them a challenge of current and fickle winds. Can you do it? Can you make
it to the finish before the deadline? The Rudder Club of Jacksonville is proud to invite you to test your
mettle at the 58th MUG RACE.
