I just bought a couple ProStarts to replace my Sailcomp compasses. (
http://www.velocitek.com/prostart/) They're pretty neat devices. It's a gps-based compass, knot meter, countdown time and a starting line function with a nice big display.
The starting line function let's you can mark the ends of the starting line and it tells you how far off the line you are using its internal GPS.
The relevent section of the class rules is:
- GPS based devices may be used only to measure speed and indicate heading during One Design class racing. Fully functioning GPS based devices may be used for all other types of racing.
My interperation is the starting line function is illegal under rule 12 in section OD-V. So does this mean I can or can't use my Prostarts for either Charleston or NA's. Or can I use them and just not use the starting line function?
