Lettering size for boat graphics
« on: March 28, 2012, 02:18:34 PM »
I am finally going to put the name on the side of the boat.  Any recommendation from the group as to minimun and more importantly maximum lettering size?  Boat is in storage so I kinda feel like I am guessing as to the correct size.

thanks

Nate,

Goombay Smash has 12" tall letters on the side!  Looking forward to seeing Semper Gumby on the side of your U20!

Hey Nate,  several years ago I made the decision of no more graphics on the sides due to increased drag since the U20 heels considerability.  So now the name is only on the transom even though the size is limited.  Just an added benefit is giving the competition a better view of it.
Just a thought here.

Don,

Are you saying that Goombay Smash is a drag?  I thought my boat, the drink and me & my crew were nothing short of "Fantastic"!

 ;)

Don,

It is Semper Gumby, not Semper Pokey.  Good point on drag, when the crumbsnatchers are more self sufficient, I've gone carbon, new sails and I am road warrioring OD events again I will maybe scrape it off.  But this year there is a grill on the back of the boat, I am racing against a mixed PHRF fleet that does not preclude success despite extra drag.

The kids think the graphics are cool.

Can't wait for NAs!!!

Nate,

I think Honour was about 11" high. Names look good on the boats!

I vote for big. I'll measure Sassy's tonight. (I'm guessing 10"or 11")
