Mardi Gras Race Week?
« on: November 15, 2012, 04:37:42 PM »
Anybody up for trying to do this event? I have sailed there the last two years they do a great job down there. Might be a great 1/2 way point for the CO peeps and not that far for you NC folks.

Just wondering if it is a good plan or not. Get some more boats down in the Billy Ellis area.
Cheers

Billy,

Are you planning on going and how about some of the other southern boys coming to attend?
I here this is a great time at a low cost entry. If we get some boats I'm in.

If we can get 6-8 boats sorted out I will come for sure. Really like this event and the boat would do great there. If that area is still looking for a boat like this, then we should really push for this.

Hey Don, I bet Marilyn would love some Hurricane's :)

Keith had mentioned this event following my message about early 2013 regattas.  I sent this reply- we need to get some add'l details and then we can push forward.

"I am not sure if the U20 is considered a “double handed One Design, or a “larger One Design”.  The entry is $130 for the former and $145 for the latter.  I am not sure if this includes entry, meals, party for all crew members, or if that is a separate cost.

If we want to participate, we need to contact the Regatta Chair as soon as possible.  We need 5 boats committed to be considered a class.  The Regatta Chair is Greg Rubin- greg@noyc.org   504.251.2588 . "

who wants to give him a call?

I am sure that we are a larger OD. This is a great event and would be a ton of fun.

Just sent an email to our group in Fairhope. My guess is 2 to 3 boats may commit. If someone has Mas Azule's contact info in Atlanta he might make a go of it.
