Fairhope Yachclub Dogwood Rergatta March 23-24
« on: January 17, 2013, 03:44:00 AM »
Our GYA Schedule has been published and there is a conflict between the Pensacola Intergalatic Regatta and the Dogwoog Regatta at FYC. As FYC is the home club of 4 of the 5 Gulf Coast u20's we have decided to have our Spring event at Fairhope as opposed to Pensacola. Fairhope is a gem of a town and is regulary in the top places to retire http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2009/moneymag/0909/gallery.bpretire_top25.moneymag/14.html .  One interesting fact about Fairhope is that it is one of only two known places in the world where Seafood Jubilees occur. For those unfamiller with jubilees that is where under a unique set of conditions thousands fish and crabs come to the shoreline in a trance like state to the delight of those lucky enough to be present to collect the bounty of the sea.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_Bay_jubilee. Right now it looks like we will have 6 boats registered for this 2 day regatta. We would love to host a few boats from Northern Reaches. Anyone who wants to come and needs a place to stay let me know and I'll see what I can do to hook you up. Btw highs down here have been brutally low. Anywhere from 58 to 72. :-)
