So I am going to be helping to introduce Ken Antonovich to the OD aspect of U-20 sailing. Ken owns one of the Schock boats and is from Upstate NY. He has been sailing PHRF at his local venue and will be coming down for his first taste of OD sailing with us.

Should be a great event as usual!
Cheers

Wow, only 4 points between 2nd and 7th place with very inconsistent finishes.  Either great competition or a roll of the dice with the wind.  Maybe both?

Hey David, it was for sure a bit both! That might have been the most flukey Lake Norman has been in a long long time. Always great to go there!

Congratulations to BJ and Emily Jones for winning the 2014 CKOD and U20 East Coast Championship Regatta.  They were consistently near the front of the fleet in every race!  This was probably the only consistency experienced over the weekend.  Tac is right on point  :) ...the winds were FLUKEY!!  I started out with a 1st in the first race, and it was all down-hill from there.  Of the five races, La Dolce Vida had 2 1st place finishes, and wound up in 8th place over-all.  In the last race, I led the first 4 legs, and then the race committee shortened the course to finish at the windward mark due to dying wind...4 and a half legs total.  Antics passed me right after the leward mark, and I thought, no problem...I might be able keep 2nd place.  Then, 4 or 5 boat lengths from the finish, Rumbulion and Might Mouse, who were behind and to starboard of me by 3 boat lengths, caught a breeze that was filling in from the right and from behind as we were all on a beat to the finish...needless to say, they caught a breeze that I didn't get, and finished ahead! The scores below don't tell the whole story.  All of the boats at one point or another were leading the fleet or near the front.  A good time was had by all!
