stringer replacement
« on: June 25, 2012, 07:05:16 PM »
Looks like #12 needs the water tight compRtment stringer replaced. It seems like Steve Bowmans repair post in tips and twist seems logical. Does anyone else have experiance with this repair?

Bill,

You may want to get in touch with Rich Hunt as he did alot of work on the BYC club boats in reinforcing that area and seems to be extremly keen to how to do repairs on anything I have asked him about.

Haven't seen much discussion on this recently, but why would you not just use fiberglass to replace the stringer instead of wood as described in the article?  Through discussions with some of the experienced local U20 sailors that was the suggestion.  Curious if others have experience replacing the stringer with fiberglass vs another piece of wood?
