Competitors at the annual Carolina Keelboat One-Design were treated to a great weekend of sailing. The conditions were very shifty and challenging with shifts of 40 degrees. The race committee was able to get in five races on Saturday in 7-12 knots. On Sunday the committee added another two in 4-8 knots of breeze. In the first race Treez Decker was racing only herself as she was able to get hooked up on the first shift and cruised to a win by almost an entire leg. She was able to sail consistently for the rest of the regatta and finished on the podium in 3rd place with 30 points. Tim Porter, sailing with two of his kids, started slow with two fifth place finishes. He found his form and was able to sail towards the front for the rest of the regatta finishing in a comfortable 2nd place with 18 points. BJ and Emily Jones, with Pete Lalli, won the regatta with 11 points. They sailed consistently fast and were never lower than second. It was great to have Keith Ziegler join the locals for the event. We hope that we can have some other out of town folks join us for our next regatta, the Keelboat Midwinters in early March.
