stringer replacement
« on: February 17, 2018, 02:33:54 PM »
#7 seems ready for a replacement of the stringer in the water tight compartment.

I got some comments last fall and now I am trying to find someone local (in Maine) to do the work.   the first question that came up was class rules such as templates materials, etc. that need to be followed during this repair.  can someone help me with what information I need to have for my repair shop?

Thanks,
Allen Townsend

Hi Allen,

There is a post on this repair in the common maintenance thread.  I am not aware of any template requirements. I would recommend contacting Richard Hunt (class measurer) for your questions.  You can find his contact info on the forum or on the class website.

Travis,  thanks for your suggestion.  I have connected with Richard Hunt, and he has been very helpful.   So much so that I am thinking of doing this repair myself.

Thanks again,

can anyone tell me if the height of the stringer under the cabin floor is less than 12 inches at its maximum height?  I just need an approximate number, the depth at one of the inside access ports would be useful.

thanks.

Looks like I need to do a stringer repair also. There used to be  instructions  on the old website. PLEASE tell me where to find, repost or send to me. At kcmndel@aol.com.
