Stringer Repair
« on: May 29, 2024, 04:42:44 AM »
In cleaning hull #71 I came to notice severe checkering of the plywood stringer between keel box and mast post. I read the procedure to replace the wood stringer under common maintenance threads. I have not verified with a moisture meter, however the area seems to be isolated to a 5" section near the keel box. Only the outer veneer and paint have started to peel/chip off. Has anyone only repaired a small delaminated area or is replacement the only option?

Are you allowed to add some glass to this area, that is to extend the tabbing for 6 inches are so?

My thoughts on repair steps:

1. Remove loose plywood.
2. Sand smooth and taper void
3. Fill with thickened epoxy
4. Sand smooth
5. Paint repair area

Any help would be great
