Awlgrip Carbon Spar
« on: August 21, 2018, 08:22:25 PM »
I have been working on my carbon spar the last couple of weeks. Sanded off most of the clear coat and sprayeddown a couple coats of Awgrip 545 primer in white, and filling all the holes with some filler. Then today I sprayed a coat of awlgrip in snow white. It turned out better than I hoped. Now it just needs time to dry. Thankfully I have the original alum spar as a backup and can still sail the boat while working on the carbon rig. I also have a non class legal carbon boom as you can see

Looks great.  Where did the mast come from?

It is one of the C-tech spars that were part of the group order back in 2010. Since I store it inside the clear coat lasted a little longer than it did for other owners. I thought about putting another clear on, but the white should last a lot longer and protect the carbon better.
