Very sad to hear the news that Steve Rose passed away, while it was not a shock as most of us heard about it his health issues while at the NA's in Kansas it is still a sad day for all U-20'ers.

Steve was a odd duck, but a great guy that gave way more then he got in our fleet. Lending his boats out and making that god awful concoction in his fish drink maker   He was a joy to be around and made out fleet more fun and better with him it in. He will be missed and I wish our dear friend eternal big breeze, an endless supply of his Gombay's and great music.

No question Steve will be missed by many of us in the U20 world.  Regatta tailgate parties will not be the same without Steve's smiling face mixing up the Goombays for everyone to enjoy.  Quite a generous contribution to the U20 class by loaning his second boat to countless newcomers to the class.  Camaraderie within the U20 troops was of far greater importants to Steve than winning races.  "It's all good".  And the list goes on and on.......

I am genuinely saddened to hear this news. Steve represented everything that was right about sailing sportsmanship. There is no question about his dedication to introducing new people to sailing and the U20 in particular and ensuring everybody had a good time in the process. Gods Speed Steve.

Just ran across this.
Steve was an incredible man, and he made a huge impression on me. He koaned Scissors to me for the two seasons before he passed, and he and I had a blast beating up on each other. I still have the boat, and although the team is super competitive, Steve taught us not to take ourselves too seriously, and the “it’s all good” attitude has absolutely stayed with the boat.
Thank you all for being such a great community and family to him.
