Dave
The Carbon spar is currently not class legal and will not be permitted to sail in the NA’s. I am certainly hopeful that we can come to some kind of an agreement before the NA’s on allowing the carbon spar in.
I’m encouraging the board to take swift action on this matter and try to get it resolved as soon as possible and I feel that that needs to be done ASAP in the next couple months so people like you can make plans for NA’s
We have the opportunity to have one of the best turnouts for a NA’s this year and we want to see as many as possible to compete and this spar issue is going to either have a negative or positive influence on the participation.
The solution will not be perfect and we will not please everyone but we must get started with something and start to see what performance differences start to show up.

Lets look for a speedy solution soon.

As previously mentioned, the anticipated vote on the Carbon Spar would be near the end of March 2010 pending additional testing results.  This should be in plenty of time for the NA's to have a decision.

Cheers,

Gregg

Is anyone interested in sharing a larger Condo big enough for two teams.  There are some 3 bedroom condos (plus living room fold outs) close to the Marina in the $150 range. Approx $75 / night for 3 people with full amenities is a pretty inexpensive way to go.  I plan on being there for the Dillon Open as well as the NAs

We might be interested. Doesn’t sound like camping is the way to go.

U20 North American championships Announcement

The 2010 Ultimate 20 North American Championships will be held at Lake Dillon Colorado on August 2, 3, 4.

This year’s championship being held in the middle of the country is shaping up to be one awesome event. At this time we have 26 boats committed to coming and are expecting 30 plus participants before racing starts. With this number of participants we are looking at this to be the largest Ultimate 20 event ever held anywhere in the world.
Teams are traveling in from all over North America to include. Canada, North and South Carolina, Seattle, California and the central United States.

This is one U20 event that you will not want to miss so if you have not yet gotten your name on the committed list you will want to get that done ASAP. The on the water and off the water events are going to be awesome.

You can find all the latest information pertaining to the event on the class website at www.u20class.org
Check out the NA's website

We are very fortunate to have the Dillon Open annual regatta being held on the Saturday and Sunday prior to NA’s and will be used for two days of practice and getting familiar with the area. For those who wish to participate in the open they will have five days of fantastic racing at one of the most beautiful places in the country. We will also have a practice race on Sunday for those that don’t enter the Open. For all the details please visit the Dillon Yacht club website at www.dillonyachtclub.com

Hi Everyone
Things are really building up nicely for the NA’s. All coming together very well and I see that we now have 27 boats committed. This is awesome and so if you are not yet on this committed list please get yourself there. Registration should be going up in the next couple weeks so keep an eye out for a post on that.

Attached you will find a copy of the Press release for the NA’s
Please take this and promote the event everywhere you go this summer. Your clubs, Regattas, newsletters, and any publications that you can get it in.

With everyone’s help we can really get the word out and build this thing up big time!

Thanks for all your help and I look forward to seeing everyone here in August.

#155 is registered for the Dillon Open.

Are we planning any get togethers or dinners?  Are many planning to do the regatta dinner on Saturday?

The Dillon Open festivities are awesome and I would recommend the Friday night reception as well as the Saturday night Dinner. We can grab a few tables and fill them with U20’s.

Reminder if you plan on racing in the Dillon Open I would register ASAP they cap it at 150 boats. www.dillonopen.com

All U20 NA participants.
The entry form is now up on the website and ready to be down loaded filled out and mailed in. Unfortunately we do not have online registration available for the event so snail mail will have to work.

Also any one interested in racing in the Dillon open will want to register ASAP. The Dillon Open gets caped at 150 boats.

All the links are available at the Class website & NA’s link. http://u20northamericans.typepad.com/blog/

To all NA participants:
Time is closing in on us with just 5 weeks to go for what is shaping up to be one awesome NA’s here in Colorado.

I would like to encourage everyone to down load the sail measurement form. Get with another U20 owner to measure your sails and sign off on them. This will save us all a tremendous amount of time and speed up the check in and registration process greatly.

If you have not already done so you will want to get your registrations in for both the NA’s and the Dillon open and avoid any late fees.

I’m looking forward to seeing you all here at Lake Dillon.

3. bernie BILBERRY  96  MONGOOSE
4. Alex Bolan  227  You Sassy B!

We also have the Aspen Open July 17, 18 if anyone is around. We have 7-8 boats registered and a short drive from Dillon. Should be an event similar to Huntington, CA. Narrow, long mountain lake with camping and strong steady breeze. This event is part of the Colorado circuit, one of ten in our mountain region series and should be our tune up for Dillon and the NA's. NOR attached.

The Colorado boats are getting together this week as part of our Wednesday series to do some sail measurement and boat inspections to aid in the checkin process for the NA's, Please take advantage of your local events to measure each others equipment and increase everyone's leisure time.  ;D
