West Coast Championships

since the San diego Nood never happened this is going to be the best attendend event and will be considered as the Pacific Coast Championship. My next question is what will be the premier event for next year?

Notice of Race will be published shortly.   Regatta chair wants to know if we want to schedule some races for Friday.   He is setting up races for the Antrim 27s on that day as well as the rest of the weekend.

Because there is about 5 weeks to 8 Oct you may not get as many boats as the Pumpkin. Folks have planned for the Pumpkin for months. Sounds like the Antrim guys have known about the 8 Oct race for awhile   If you add a Fri race to the 8 Oct gig, you may loose more boats. I know one of my crew has to give a bit more notice to get Fri off (engineer at a hydraulic power generator). I am retired but the crew is not. Do I spend a weekend in Richmond on 8Oct or 29Oct? If I had to choose between the two 3 months ago, I would rather two days of buoy racing.

What I didn't say in the above is that your plan for a Pacific Coast Championship is a great idea. I will make a strong effort to go. Even if you get 5 or 6 boats, it would be a start. For future Championships, if we cannot set up something with Richmond, I bet Fresno would do it at Huntington. Huntington trumps other lakes with its predictable wind.

We need to decide on what the venue will be for next year. What will be the best attended event. Some ideas;
San Diego
Huntington
Dillon

Which one would you commit to if you knew there would be 10+ boats?

What about time of year? Huntington has good wind, whitecaps, almost every day all summer. For a three day event, it would be unusual to have light air on one of the days. Wasn't Dillon fluky for the nationals. When is the wind predictably good in San Diego? By the way, I got crew  commitments for 7-9 Oct if we do it. Having a great boat makes getting crew easier.

Spoke with John Dukat who is the Club lead.  Planning on three races for both Saturday and Sunday.  Working on the NORs today so will post when he's done with them or check out the RYC site.

Thank you for your work on this Mike. I will go if we get at least 4 or 5 boats. I don't care if there is a trophy, I just want to race on San Francisco Bay.

Layla will be at both the PCCs and the Great Pumpkin.

Huntington's season is from last week in June to the end of September. Oct they lower the lake for flood control. The wind is still there though. The Fresno Club said we could piggy back on the High Sierra and they would add extra days for us, if we wanted. If we got enough commitments to justify it, they would put on an event for their cost.

John Dukat has forwarded me the NOR and SI for the U20 Regatta on October 7-8 at the Richmond Yacht Club.   Please find them attached to this email.  So far, the boats indicating that they will be there are:  Layla, Viola, Uagain, Uhoo!, Salsa, Breakaway, and Too Tuff.   Anyone else planning on coming?   

John will be putting up the registration soon on the Richmond Yacht Club site.
