U20's in the SE

I vote we waive the driver/owner and weight limit rules for the upcoming Charleston race week. It would be great to have a big turnout for this event.

I also support waiving the owner driver rule to get more boats on the water, however, for the sea lawyers among us, it's worth noting that both the owner driver and weight limit rules apply only to "class sanctioned events" under article OD II. The 2011 Regatta Schedule posted on the web site doesn't include CRW, so it's probably not yet a sanctioned event, so....

I'll go register now while my crew and I are still eligible ;-)

CRW now has 9 boats registered. 7 from US. 2 from Canada. Lets get into the double digits. There has to be a few more boats in the East, plus a few more from Canada. Brad talked me into going. Usually get 3 good days of sailing. Reasonable rooms. Great restaurants. Central location. CRW is quickly becoming the small boat version of Key West without all the costs. Lets keep promoting.

It really is a great place to race and take the family to. The after party at the resort each night is also one not to be missed . We have done this regatta for the last three years and have found a bunch of cheap clean Hotels that are close by. If you go down town it is really Historic with great restaurants.

The only thing is make sure you take a motor to this regatta as there is a bunch of currents at the entrance to the marina. (we sail in every year but it is not easy) .

Is there going to be a U20 fleet at the Outback this fall in Columbia, SC. I'm planning on being there if there is interest. I need to plan now.

I'm planning on doing Outback probably PHRF spin to be eligible for the 'Cup'.  Don't know how many U20s will come down from here, hopefully a few, but with three there we're bound to have some U20 action there.  If you are on the road come join us at Lake Norman for the Peninsula Cup Regatta on Sept 17/18 at Peninsula YC.  We will probably have a U20 OD fleet and PHRF.  COME JOIN US!

U20 sailors in SAYRA -

we have 2 regattas left in the SAYRA One Design U20 series. These are:
-Western Carolina Hospice Oct 14-16
-LNYC Carolina Keelboat Regatta Nov 12,13

Don Corey has won this series for the past 2 years.  PARTICIPATION IS THE KEY! The other 3 regattas this year have been LNYC Keelboat Midwinters, Charleston RW and Outback Cup.  You need to have sailed in 3 of 5 to qualify.

The Hospice Regatta being sailed at Western Carolina is Oct 14,15 & 16. This is the 4th leg of U20's SAYRA championship. We normally have 4-5 Ultimates for this event. Below is the NOR for the event. Rules
This regatta will be governed by RRS 2009-2012.
Expected Fleets
The regatta is open to all sailors, adult and junior.
Keelboat course: PHRF A, PHRF B and Keelboat One Design Fleets*
Distance course: PHRF C, PHRF D
Dinghy/multihull course: Centerboard or Multihull One Design Fleets* and Open Portsmouth.
*Note: Five boats of any Class constitute a One Design Fleet

Registration
Pre-registration by October 7
is strongly encouraged in order to reserve meals and t-shirts and can be accomplished
by completing the registration form attached or registering online at www.wcsc-sailing.org. Registration fee for each
boat is $55 ($75 after October 7
) for adult skippers ($50 if a member of US Sailing). Registration includes: Entry fee,
one weekend meal pass which includes welcome party Friday night, bag lunch for skipper and crew, one Saturday
night dinner, and breakfast Saturday and Sunday morning.  Extra meal passes are $25 for adults and $10 for juniors. 
Trophies/Awards
Trophies will be awarded at least three deep in all fleets.   The winners of each Fleet (must have 5 boats registered in
a Fleet) will be entered in a drawing to determine who will compete in the Hospice Regattas National Championship
which will be held in St. Petersburg, FL in 2012.  A perpetual trophy will be awarded to the winner of the drawing.

Hi Guys,

Just as soon as I find a U20, I'll come join the SE circuit. I've hauled my Viper from Miami to Marblehead, so Lake Murray and Norman are easy weekend trips. Hope to join the fun in the spring if the "right" boat comes along.
