Questions about the U20

Hello all, I'm new to the forum and very interested in a U20 as my first boat, hoping to purchase in the next year or two. 
My first question is about the cabin (have to sell the boss on it of course!)  How much space is there actually?  I've never been able to find a picture of the interior or of anyone laying down in one of the berths.  Can you actually overnight in this thing or are the cushions more a place for the kids to sit while the adults sail?

Hey Agent, where are you located? The best way to answer your question is to get on a boat and see for yourself. I'm sure we could locate a boat near you.  Different folks have different ideas at what is suitable as a cabin for overnighting. At my age I view the cabin as somewhere between a place for the kids and something I would spend a weekend.  If you are comfortable back pack camping you would find the cabin to be more than enough space. On the otherhand if a camping trip would require nothing smaller than a pop up camper you would likely be disappointed.

After watching Rick surf Dragon Bait past a Frers 36 (Force 10)  and an X-95 (Cara Mia) last night, I'm damn impressed with this little boat!

These great little boats kick ass (do very well) in a good breeze with very good control.  We are into our fifth week of Wednesday Race Series and are once again leading spinnaker overall.  The U20 does so many things well in so many conditions plus is simple to sail, rig and travel.  With over fifteen years in the class I cannot say enough about terrific boat.  You got to sail one!  and enjoy!

Gregg those pics are great, thanks!  Nice and clean down below.  I'm 6'6", so I'm not sure where I'd cram my keister in there despite my affinity for sleeping bags, unless there's enough length in the aft quarters?  Another option would be to build up a platform of bags or something behind the vee for my head if there's enough length.  I suppose one of the nice things with the lifting keel is that I could get pretty close to a beach and walk ashore with a tent!

I think there are a couple of boats in the Ottawa area; perhaps you could hook up with them?  I'm not sure if they're active on this forum, but someone might know how to get in touch with them.  I know that a boat in Nepean just sold; but I think there are still some in the area.

I'm planning to be in Kingston for CORK, August 23-25.  Would be happy to meet with you then.

I am 6 4 and can sleep comfortably in the quarter berth if needed.  I wouldn't do it for a week but for a couple of nights of camping or at a regatta with no close by hotels totally doable.

I've overnighted in the Puget Sound (when it is actually warm enough) and have had a great time doing it.  It is more of a camping mindset, but is quite fun! My strongest possible recommendation for this quick and easy little boat.
