Spreader tips
« on: March 12, 2017, 05:03:03 AM »
As I have my boat home for spring cleaning and maintenance, I noticed as I was about to re-tape the spreaders tips (aluminum mast) that the stainless safety wire that hold in the shrouds to the spreader are starting to have a little metallurgic affect. Is there an alternate solution to this or is this the norm?

Hey Glenn! You may want to consider West Marine's Medium Spreader Boots (https://www.westmarine.com/west-marine--spreader-boots--P002_065_007_514). They're a good alternative and easy to replace when they wear out.

Thanks Eric,
The question is, how do you attach the shrouds to the spreaders?

I think everyone is doing the same thing using Seizing Wire.  I take mine off during the winter and on long trailering trips.
