If The Good Lord's Willing and The Creek Don't Rise....
« on: February 14, 2021, 03:07:13 AM »
I'll be the new owner of hull 006, once Ethel Merlyn, then Uff Da. Not much can happen to prevent that, so if everything is what is is, its a deal. Money has changed hands.

I'm Clay Babcock, know a few of you, probably raced against more. Sail out of Wayzata Yacht Club on Lake Minnetonka in Minneapolis, and on Superior with our AIS fleet.  I'm stoked to start ownership of a U20!

006 is in Arizona, so I've got work to do. Happily I sail down in Canyon Lake TX during the winter, so that will be a jumping off point. Boat will be in a PHRF fleet at WYC, OD where I can this year. Bayfield race Week for sure!

I'm also the VP of Sales and Marketing at Vakaros, the maker of the Atlas racing instruments. I plan to use the boat as a test platform for all manner of new and exciting stuff.

More to come!

It's going to be an interesting season for sure. Here's to seeing everyone on the water.

Congratulations on your purchase! I think you will enjoy the U20. I purchased mine #16 this time last year. I am located in Des Moines, IA. I crewed the previous  season at Wayzata on Offline in the Capri 25 fleet.

We hope to make it up to Bayfield Race Week this season. Would love to have you visit us on Saylorville Lake! Small club, but a building mixed sportboat fleet.

If I can answer any questions on the U20 or be of any help, please don't  hesitate  to reach out.

Mike,

Good times! For sure BRW is on the cal if all goes to plan. Used to campaign First 36.7 Kestrel there, but will be fun to be back with a sporty.

Might take you up on the talk. We drive thru your town all the time on the way to/from Texas.

You sail down there on Saylorville? If so you know Dean. Tell him you're gonna have a beer with Clay and 'Hollywood'. He's laugh his ass off.

Also know Cory and Kevin well from Offline. I'll say 'HI'

Clay,  I am curious about your question and how it connects.   I bought my boat from Bob Johnson, RHJ, from Beaufort, North Carolina in the fall of '99.  He mentioned to me that he was thinking of naming the boat 007.   I sail mostly in Maine, I named the boat after Bomazeen who was an Abenaki Indian chief in the area that I sail.

Hi, might be a misunderstanding on my part. I thought hull #7 was 'Running With Scissors', a boat once owned by my bud Mike Meyers.
