Save the Date for a return to the Richmond Yacht Club and an awesome weekend of sailing on San Francisco Bay for the 2022 North Americans.  Great venue, world class sailing, and experienced Race Committee will make it an event you will remember.  More details to come.

U20 owners and crew

If you can't bring your own boat to San Francisco Bay, think about coming to join as crew for another skipper.  Great experience on the Bay and skippers may be looking.

If you are bringing your boat or thinking about it and don't have crew available, please post on the Regattanetwork page that you are looking for crew.  You are likely to find some one who is experienced and it could save money on your crew budget.

Do it now so you can plan on attending!

For those skippers considering the trip to Richmond, CA in September and are wondering what the conditions are like, please see the attached charts.  The Richmond Yacht Club location is called the Richmond Riviera and Mid September is the warmest, sunniest, and moderate wind months of the year.  We plan on racing on the Southampton course which is protected waters due to presence of Angel Island that reduces wave height. Tidal currents during the racing will be slack to ebbing during the racing.

Hope you can join us and please let us know if you have questions related to accommodations, logistics, and venue.

The Hotel Mac in Point Richmond recently reopened and have generously offered a $35 per night discount (approximately 20%) from September 8 through September 12.  They have blocked off 10 rooms during this period to give us a chance to book.  The promo code is Ultimate 20.  You will need to call the hotel at (510) 235- 0010 to take advantage of this offer.  Desiree is our contact.  She recommends that you look at the various room options on the website before you call.  http://www.thehotelmac.com  After the one week block off period, the discount still applies but rooms would of course be subject to availability.  I expect a number of sailors will be staying at the Hotel Mac.

Another option would be an Airbnb in Point Richmond.  There are a number of rooms and houses available during our regatta.

Finally, given production lead time, I will need to place the Regatta T-shirt order early next week.  If you register by next Monday, July 18, I will be able to guarantee the sizes that you have selected at registration.  After that, we will have a limited number of sizes available.

Please let me know if you have any questions or need any further information.

Thanks,

Another sponsor! .  .  . and an Event Brochure!

Happy to report that Little Louie's Café in Point Richmond has agreed to support our race committee lunches.  They are also offering all  U20 sailors a 15% discount on breakfasts and lunches during the entire month of September.  I have eaten there many times and can confirm they make excellent breakfasts and sandwiches.  This may be the first stop for many during the regatta!

Also, Mike Josselyn has put together the attached Event Brochure.  It has helpful information and resources for your visit and sailing.

Happy to answer any questions or provide further information.

Thanks,

John Wolfe

About a month away with 10 boats registered.  If you are on the fence climb off the fence and register.  Any news on charters?

Tim,

Two other boats, one committed but has not signed up.  Boat 2 on the fence but likely.

Who is interested in a charter?  Let's talk.  Would love to see 3 more boats!  15!!   8)

With respect to local charters, we have eight "local area" boats, six of which have registered.  With respect to the other two, one is out of the area until October and the other one is not available for racing.

Given this, the most likely avenue to help increase participation would be to match up crew that can travel to the event with boats that can travel to participate but have an issue with crew.

There are "looking for crew" and "looking for boat" boards on the "Crew Board" on the Regatta site.  https://www.regattanetwork.com/event/24544#_newsroom

Even if it is just an initial thought, it is worth posting to see if something might develop.  Or just post here.
