All,

The Park City Sailing Association has offered to host the U20 Pacific Coast Championship at the fall regatta September 20-21st.  Last year we fielded 6 local boats.  We have tentative commitments, 4 Colorado, 1 California, 1 Idaho.  We are well on our way to double digits!

It's a great venue about 15 minutes from Park City, Utah.  There is camping at the lake and hotel accommodations in Park City or Heber City.

Humbly submitted by the saltiest sailors on earth!

The park city regatta is looking good for the PCC's this year. I propose Park City for 2014, Huntington for 2015.

It sounds like this is the plan from the Pres for PCCs.  I have no objection and my crew is tentatively up for it.  It would be good to start getting a definitive count of committed boats.

Mark can you work the local fleet to get commitments?  We really need to get all the local boats to commit to race.

If we got all the local boats+ 4 Colorado boats + Black Sheep + Madison + UDecide that makes 16 without any Bay Area boats.  If we could grab 2-4 Bay Area boats then we would have a 20 boat fleet and that would be solid.

Also the details on the regatta being posted to this thread would be helpful.  Two days of racing is a little thin for a championship.  Some racing Friday late afternoon/early evening would be a little better for a championship regatta, but I do not know if this is workable?

Jay,
We talked about this event at our winter meeting and I have commitments from 6 of the 10 boats. Some I know cannot make it due to outside conflicts. This might open a charter availability. I won't know until we get closer. With the Colorado boats we are already at 10. I think we easily could be 15+ for this event. I have talked to the organizer and they are excited to host us. There is camping right next to the event and overnight slips are available.

As far as racing on Friday I would open that up to those who are traveling in and see what everyone would like to do. I will contact the race committee and see if this is possible.

Charter would be cool option - especially for boats in the region that can't make NAs.  Very easy fly-in to Salt Lake and short drive to Park City.

Let the class know on the Friday racing inquiry.  I am not advocating at this stage - just wondering if it is an option and what the local boats think of the idea.

We are planning on driving in from ID for this one.  There is another local boat that I will try to convince to make the trip.

Looks like water levels are heading in the right direction based upon a quick review of the online data.  Any of the locals want to provide a preview based upon more detailed information?

The Tribune says that they expect the J to fill this year.  That is a much better outlook than 2013 and we had plenty of water for the regatta last fall.  I think we should be in good shape.

We'll work with the Park City Sailing Association to get a notice of race etc out in June.

If you plan on camping, reserve your spot early.

Hi all,

The regatta is confirmed for 9/20-21.  I have attached last year's sailing instructions and I'll post this year's as soon as it's available.  Please note that they will give the U20's a separate start (did last year as well) even though this copy says otherwise.

As Mark mentioned in May you can reserve camping and also slips at the website above.  The State will let you park  your boat on the trailer if you prefer to dry sail.  There is no hoist, it's ramp launch.  Water will not be a problem this year.   If you prefer to stay in a hotel there are many accommodations close by in Park City or Heber (10-15 minutes drive).   Many of the local boats plan to arrive and sail Friday.  We may be able to organize some practice races if there is interest.

We have 6 local boats committed.  With 2 from the North and 3 from Colorado we could be looking at 11!

Please confirm your intent to attend so that we can help the PCSA plan.

Thanks!

I did check with the organizing authority on the entry fee.  At $195 it is a little on the steep side.  However, that includes three regatta dinners and three T-shirts so that is typical for a championship event.

See everyone in two months...
